Messages from Bosco and Heidi April 2026

From the Bukeeras

Greetings from Uganda!
As ever, there is much to give thanks for… and lots of people and situations to bring before the Lord.

As in any church, we are faced with a multitude of pastoral issues. However, the severity seems much greater here compared to the UK, partly because the government are not helping their people. In Uganda there is no free healthcare, no free education and no such thing as council housing. Consequently, when our congregants are struggling in these areas, they come to the church for help and support!
Here are a few recent pastoral issues:

1. A teenage boy comes to our home, saying that his mother (who is a church member) has been padlocked out of her rented home. Bosco goes to investigate, and discovers that the landlord has locked her out, because she has not paid rent for two months. This lady has four children, no money to pay rent, and is locked out of her home.

2. A young couple at church have recently found out that they are expecting a baby. Over the past few years they have gone through about 8 miscarriages. They have been advised to have certain medication that may help the pregnancy to continue… but they don’t have enough money to buy this medication.

3. A lovely young man who serves in multiple ways in church has recently spiralled down with his mental health, to the point of being suicidal. After us realising that he needed professional help, Bosco took him to a psychiatrist, where he was admitted. His mother died some years back, and his Father is unstable with no fixed abode. Consequently he has no family support, and no money to pay to get the help and support he needs.

These are just a few of the many pastoral issues going on in our church right now. Please pray for these dear believers, that the Lord would provide for their every need. Pray that their faith may be strengthened in the midst of suffering. Pray for Bosco and Pastor Jimmy as they shepherd the flock here at Ssenge Baptist Church, that they may prayerfully and practically be able to support those in need. Pray for us as a family - we are surrounded by needs, and sometimes we just don’t know how to best use the limited resources that we have.

Next week (Monday-Thursday) we are hosting step 4 of the Equipping Pastors Worldwide training in our church tent in our garden. The aim of this training is to equip Pastors (and others who may be involved in Bible teaching) in sound Bible handling skills. Step four includes teaching and workshops on:
- the life of Joseph
- the dangers of the prosperity gospel
- the Pastor’s soul

Pray for Bosco, Pastor Jimmy and Pastor Emmanuel as they teach. Pray for those who come, that they may be well equipped to teach faithfully from God’s Word.

We are feeling somewhat overwhelmed right now, with a lot going on, lots of things that need to be done… and seemingly not enough time! Please pray that the Lord would sustain us in this ministry… and pray that He may soon provide so that we can build a permanent church building which is not in our garden!

We would love to see those who are struggling in our church, thrive. We desire for the unemployed to find meaningful work whereby they can support their families. We don’t want to create dependency. Yet sometimes there are immediate, urgent needs that have to be met. We don’t often ask for help for individuals within our church, but if you feel led to support any of the people mentioned above with a one off gift, please get in touch and we can tell you how.

Thank you for your continued prayerful support for our family and church planting ministry here in Uganda. We are always so encouraged by your messages and prayers.

With much love,
Bosco and Heidi xxx
